Dr. Sood was born in Buffalo, New York, and now lives in the Rochester area with his wife, Dr. Monica Vielkind, a Pediatric Pulmonologist at Golisano Children’s Hospital. Together, they are raising a son and daughter. He enjoys running, hiking, and golf.
Dr. Sood specializes in medical and surgical retina, with particular expertise in macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, macular holes, and epiretinal membranes. He completed a Vitreoretinal Surgery Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic and an Ocular Immunology and Uveitis Fellowship at Harvard Medical School/Mass Eye and Ear Infirmary, following his ophthalmology residency at Emory University School of Medicine. A board-certified diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology, he is also an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retina Specialists, and the American Uveitis Society.
